What does publishing a product on Odoo require?

These are what the Odoo integration actually asks for at the publish step. The list is generated from the integration code.

Category: You pick a category from the marketplace's own tree when creating the product.
Category-specific fields: No category-dependent extra fields; the form is the same for every product.
Brand: A brand is not mandatory.
Barcode (GTIN/EAN): A barcode is mandatory; you cannot list without one here.
Image: An image is not mandatory.
Variants: Variants are not supported; each one is listed as a separate product.
Result: The result comes back straight away; the listing is created on submission.
Updating: A published listing can be updated afterwards.
Removing: Removing a listing is not supported here; it is done from the marketplace's own panel.

This is generated from the integration code; when the marketplace changes its rules, the adapter is updated too.

What you should know about the Odoo integration

Why is the database name required?

Alongside the address, an Odoo connection asks for a database name, and this field cannot be left empty. The reason is Odoo's architecture: a single Odoo server can host several databases, each belonging to a different company. The address says which server to reach; the database name says which company on that server to connect to. On Odoo Online the database name is usually the same as your subdomain.

An API key is used instead of a password. You generate it under user preferences → account security and never enter the account's normal password — which is also what lets the connection work on accounts with two-factor authentication enabled.

By default only website orders come through

Odoo is not only an e-commerce platform but also an ERP. So the records that appear as sales orders inside it can come from different sources: the website, the point of sale, or manually created quotations. The connection's default behaviour is to pull only e-commerce orders originating from the website.

That is a deliberate default — it keeps in-store sales from mixing into the e-commerce operation. If you also want POS or manually entered orders, you widen the scope. The situation "there are 40 orders in Odoo but only 12 reached the panel" almost always comes down to this.
