What you should know about the Salesforce Commerce integration

Three identifiers, three different layers

A Salesforce Commerce connection asks for three identifiers, each pointing at a different layer. The short code is an eight-character routing code that sits at the front of the API address. The organisation ID says which organisation to connect to, and the site ID which site's data within it to read.

The third matters most on multi-site installations: each site can have its own product catalogue, prices and currency. A connection with the wrong site ID works technically but works against the wrong catalogue — it raises no error, it simply does not bring the data you expected.

Confidential client or public client?

The setup has a client secret field, and whether you fill it in depends on your client type. With a confidential client you provide it; with a public client the field stays empty, and that is not an incomplete setup. Trying without knowing which type you have leads to bouncing between two different error messages.

Global infrastructure, local marketplace operations

Most brands on Salesforce Commerce Cloud sell in several countries and manage the platform centrally. Turkish marketplaces, meanwhile, run by their own rules: different category trees, different mandatory fields, different returns processes.

The connection joins the two: orders and stock flow into Stokzone, and marketplace-specific work happens on the Stokzone side. You do not have to bend your central platform to local marketplace rules.

The scope is orders, stock and prices; creating product records is outside it. Keeping product data single-owned in the central system is usually a deliberate choice at this scale.
